SIDEWAYS MUSIC PROGRAM IS READY WITH NEW ADDITIONS
Planning for the upcoming Sideways festival is well underway, and with the addition of new acts, the music program is now complete. Opening Helsinki's summer events in June, the festival will once again offer dozens of performances regardless of genre boundaries, featuring both old favorites and new discoveries. The latest additions to the music program are Royel Otis (AU), Eevil Stöö, and the Erottaja DJ's.
Royel Otis is an Australian indie rock band whose psychedelic tone infused debut album, Pratts & Pain was released earlier this year. Despite being only five years old, the band has quickly risen to become one of the most intriguing newcomers in their genre, with hits like Oysters In My Pocket, Sofa King, and a cover of Murder On The Dancefloor capturing listeners' attention.
Also gracing the stage is Eevil Stöö, Finnish rap’s unique pathfinder, known for the commando hat and dark verses, who also released a new album full of fresh music this year. Closing out the final day of the festival with a bang at the Basement venue will be the well-known figures from Helsinki's nightlife scene, when the iconic Erottaja DJ’s make a comeback for one night only. Known as one of Helsinki's most popular bars in the early 2000s, Erottaja is remembered for its eclectic music offerings spanning from new wave to thrash metal.
While the music lineup is now complete, there will be plenty of festival-related news to come throughout the Spring.
